Your Lucan Barber – Just 17 Minutes on the N4 at Pair of Shears
If you live in Lucan, you know what makes this place special. You're part of a community with roots that go deep—past the magnificent Palladian villa of Lucan House, built around 1775 by Agmondisham Vesey , past the famous "Boiling Spring" that made this town a fashionable spa resort in the 19th century , and past the centuries of history connecting Lucan to the Sarsfield family, who produced one of Ireland's greatest military commanders .
Today, Lucan is something else: one of Dublin's fastest-growing communities, with a population that has seen "significant and ongoing population growth" in recent years . New housing estates, families, and professionals have made this west Dublin town a vibrant, thriving place to call home.
You're also commuters. Every day, thousands of Lucan residents hop on the N4/M4 corridor for the 17-minute drive into the city centre , or take Dublin Bus from Lucan Village to Heuston Station in about 21 minutes . You work in the IFSC, you have meetings on Baggot Street, you shop on Grafton Street. The city is an extension of your daily life.
At Pair of Shears Barbers, we want to be part of that routine. Located in the heart of Dublin 2, we're the barber shop that Lucan professionals trust for precision cuts, expert beard work, and genuine, no-fuss hospitality. And with the N4 at your doorstep, we're closer than you think.
This page is your local guide. We'll show you exactly how to get here, why we're worth the journey, and how we can help you and your family look their best.
Hello, Lucan – Great Hair Is Worth the Journey
Lucan has a story to tell. In the 19th century, this was a "fashionable resort" where visitors flocked to drink the mineral waters, which were found "efficacious in scorbutic, bilious, and rheumatic affections" . A handsome spa house with an assembly room 62 feet long hosted concerts and balls, and the town's "beautifully situated" location on the banks of the Liffey made it a "pleasant occasional residence" for wealthy Dubliners .
That same appreciation for quality, heritage, and getting things done right is exactly how we approach barbering at Pair of Shears.
Located at 14B Baggotrath Place, just off Baggot Street Lower, we are your city-centre destination for premium grooming. For those coming from the K78 area, it's a straightforward journey—17 minutes down the N4, which becomes the M4 and connects you directly to the city . The same road that brings you to work each day can bring you to a barber shop that treats you like family.
We're close enough to be convenient for commuters, but far enough to offer something special: a true barber shop experience with skilled barbers, quality products, and an atmosphere that feels as genuine as the community you come from.
